Sports fans should be no strangers to the Blue Devils, Duke University. The sports power house in college sports, have one of the best women’s golf program in the state. They have produced many players on the LPGA. The most famous recent graduate is Amanda Blumenherst. Who have won every awards in golf you can possibility imagine. Amanda is a legend herself in what she has achieved in Amateur golf. And Lindy seems to be inspired by her.
Although, their team seems to have a slow start this fall. With the best finished being tied for 7th. Lindy Duncan, the junior from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, is stepping up and holding up the team. Lindy Duncan might not be a household name but she is definitely a player to watch. Currently leading the women’s college golfweek ranking, with a 70.44 scoring avg. Almost 3 strokes better than the second best player on her team. Lindy’s leadership will be the key for Duke success this spring.
Last fall, she became just the fourth ACC golfer in league history to win the ACC Player of the Year award on at least two occasions.
And just last winter, Lindy won the 2010 Dixie Amateur Championship at the Heron Bay Golf Club in Coral Springs, Fla., with a four-day total of 284 (70-71-70-73) She beat one of the hottest women’s golfer in the world Alexis Thompson by five strokes.
Lindy is known to be a long hitter and a strong putter. This is what make her stands out from the crowd. She said her best 18holes score was a 65 in high school, a match against now LPGA player Morgan Pressel.
Lindy, is no doubt the player to watch this spring and as her senior year approaching, we should be expecting her appearance on the LPGA Q’school next summer.
