Tom Crowe founded Cobra Golf in about 1973 and established it in southern California because he believed it to be the best place to live. The first club was as stated the Baffler, a great trouble club. In about 1984 they created the original Long Tom, an overlength driver with both a graphite shaft and a graphite head. The theory was that the lighter weight and longer shaft enabled both more swing speed while retaining control. Some claimed it was named after Crowe, a high quality player, but he always claimed it was named for an artilery piece developed by the British army. In any event Tom Crowe was a true inovator in the golf industry and is one of the finest gentlemen the industry has ever knowm.

The Masters is always exciting and this year was no exception. Personally I was hoping to see Lee Westwood win to get the monkey off his back of coming so close so often. It is amazing after missing all those possible putts that he still shot 68 on Sunday.
The scene of Rory and Sergio leaving the 18th on Saturday - arm in arm consoling each other after a hard day, must have brought a tear to anyone watching.
Bubba is a wonderful outcome to the day! What a shot he made on the second playoff hole. He is showing just what a great champion he is with all the TV interviews that he has done since winning. What a sparkling personality he has. With his length he is sure to win many more tournaments and the fans will all love him.

Like you The Masters has a special place in my following of the PGA tournaments. My father, Pat Fletcher, played in the 1955 Masters. He was invited to do this after winning the Canadian Open in 1954. Although I don't have complete memories of what he had to say about that experience, I do remember that he was very much in awe of it. He talked about the announcing on the first tee of the players and how well treated the players were during their time there.

We received this from the original poser of the question:

USGA: Since it was unintentional and no Committee error, it stands as played. If it was intentional, a violation of Rule 1-3: Penalty - DQ. Basically, since they played the white tees instead of the red tees (the tees they were supposed to play), no advantage but rather a disadvantage which helped to indicate it was unintentional.

I'm so pleased you wrote about Lizette. She and her family are amazing and my Latina Golfers Association has been supporting them since we first heard about her four years ago. We're very proud of what she's accomplished and what that means for the future of golf in America. Lizette will attract Latinas and Latinos to the game of golf, of that you can be sure! Thank you for brining attention to our shining star. If you don't mind, can you correct the link for the Latina Golfers Association - it's latinagolfers.com. The one it's linked to is a men's organization.

Very nice story. but first John is wrong! is Jerry Herrera. Second Belen Mozo never get four time All-American... Lizette Salas is the only FOUR TIME ALL AMERICAN in USC history Belen just get third. you could confirm calling USC Coach Andrea Gaston

Hi Matt;
I wonder if the Cobra Long Tom Driver was named after Tom Crowe? He was always very interested in speciality golf clubs and started with the Cobra Baffler. It was a wonderful club. I can remember when Tom would demonstrate this club by going into parking lots and hitting balls over cars to show how the club would get the ball up from difficult lies. This is still available today.

George;
This is a post after my heart. I really feel that golf must reinvent itself to include all family members. Please take the time to read Is Golf Too Hard For Today's Lifestyle an article that I wrote last fall. It is time that our golf courses welcome golfers of all ages and make the game of golf accessible to the very busy schedules we all have.
Thanks for your take on this.
