Two Wheels or Three Wheels

Submitted by ChiGolfLady on Sun, 08/31/2008 – 23:07.

I’ve decided that I’m going to ask for a golf cart for Christmas. It seems so much easier on your back…I’m getting too old! I’ve researched a couple different brands and styles. I think I’m leaning towards the three-wheeled carts. Although all carts seem easy to push, these seem even easier. I’m specifically looking at the Sun Mountain Speed Cart V2icon .iconicon Pricey, yes, but hopefully it lasts long enough to make it worth it.

So, a few questions for all the golf cart owners/users: Do you prefer two or three wheels? What brand of cart do you use? What features do you love? What features do you wish your cart had?

Thanks in advance for your help!

I have a cart that has two wheels. It’s about as basic as you can get. It has a scorecard holder that also holds two balls and some tees. Every time I play I round, I find myself wishing it had a beverage holder! But, it definitely serves its purpose. I think if I had to get a new one, I would go with three wheels. The three wheel carts icon are more easy to maneuver. My big concern was I didn’t understand how they would stay put on a hill. Guess what! They have brakes! I hope Santa brings what you wish for!

Thanks for your response! Have you always used a cart or were you previously a carrier? I carried my clubs for awhile, but then I started renting pull carts from the course. I figure I should just get my own! It will pay for itself eventually!

I agree, I think three wheel carts icon are easier to maneuver. I, too, was worried about it rolling away! Before I started researching carts, and while I was using the two-wheeled version from the course, I never even thought of brakes on a cart. I guess those designers know what they are doing!

I really am hoping to get the Sun Mountain Speed Cart V2icon. It has a ton of features on the cart itself, and then you can buy other accessories. There’s a little backpack type bag that you can buy and attach to the cart. That would be good for sweaters or rain gear.

Does anyone own the Sun Mountain Speed Cart V2 icon? Or does anyone have a comparable cart they would like to praise?

     Hi Golfdaze

I have noticed at my golf club that many of the members who own the remote control carts have trouble with the batteries. They find them very heavy to lift into their trunks and awkward to attach to the cart. Over all these carts are much heavier than the three wheel carts icon that are currently available. We have done an excellant review of the the new carts at http://womensgolfcenter.com/three-wheel-golf-carts-make-golf-walk-park.html Be sure to check it out. I think you will find the information very useful.

I hurt my shoulder several years ago and have trouble pulling a cart for very long. So when I walk a course, I carry my bag with a balance strap. Recently, the group in front of me had 2 carts that were self-propelled. I believe they used a remote device to control them. It looked like the carts were just following them down the fairway. I didn’t see any catastrophes or run-away carts. One even seemed to have a fold-down seat on the side. I’m sure they are expensive, but what a great way to have your clubs close by. Does anyone else have any experience with electric pull carts or know anything about the best buys?

I personally like 3 wheels better. Cuz two wheels tend to flip easily and 3 wheels provide more stability for the golf carts. I don’t like electric pull carts… cuz they are heavy and takes up too much space in my little car.
And you have to worry about the battery… it’s just too annoying for me.

Pull carts are usually ranging from $200-$120 so be sure to do your search. Oh and don’t try to get it during the big holidays! Look out for the sales! for your information there is a great selection and prices at amazon.com!
